The beginning of 2009 marked the opening of City Studios purpose built complex. It is large and impressive building housing all of the company’s operations and facilities. There are 5 individual dubbing studios, a video suit and a large music studio.
Everything has been purpose built from the ground up using new and innovative materials and been acoustically designed and treated. The whole building has a modern and creative atmosphere. Behind the scenes there are complete air-conditioning systems for every space, UPS power smoothing and back-up for each studio including an 80kva generator and a 1GB/sec network allowing work transfers to be easily manageable. This new building provides the company with everything it needs for its challenging and technical operations.
The music studio consists of a large control room that looks straight onto the vocal/instrument booth and through to the huge 100m² live room with a 6m high celling. At the end of the live room there is a drum booth with a producers lounge above allowing a birds eye view on the action. All the rooms have been acoustically designed and treated for the optimum in recording spaces, small and large. They each have a clean modern feel that is fresh and comfortable to provide an inspiring environment.
The live room is large enough for most chamber orchestra's and choirs and we have our very own Steinway & Sons Grand D piano. The drum booth contains our own 6 piece Mapex studio professional drum kit and of course there are plenty more instruments and toys around not to mention we can hire anything in.
The microphone collection is of a serious caliber that has taken owner and engineer, Andreas Georgallis, a lifetime to select to ensure the best front end to your recording. It consists of Telefunken, Neumann, DPA, and many more.
There is also a separate machine room for the music studio which houses all the noisy equipment and amplifiers to keep background noise down as much as possible in the studio. We are running the latest version of Pro Tools on an Apple MacPro Intel 2x2.8 Ghz Quad Core with 8GB RAM loaded with an endless list of plug-ins. The main console is the SSL AWS 900+ SE. We have out-board equipment from Focusrite, SSL, Summit Audio, Neve, Avalon and many more.
There are 5 dubbing studios each with a control room and a recording booth with a video screen. They all run Pro Tools and a high end pre amp with select microphone for the best in broadcast sound. All fully air-conditioned and run by specialist engineers we now have a very tight operation for high quality dubbing with a fast and reliable turn around.
We have 42 actors on our books who are all used to working with us and we can take any TV series or film and look after everything from translating and casting through to delivery on most types of broadcast media.
This is where typically our TV programs and films come in for dubbing but we can do almost anything video related in here. We are running two Apple Macs each with Final Cut video editing software and are capable of most video editing, transferring, encoding or DVD authoring projects. We also currently have tape machines for DVCAM, DVCPRO, XDCAM, and analogue or Digi. BETACAM not to mention VHS and DVD.
We can also look after graphics in here too with Photoshop etc. to deliver adverts, CD and DVD design and so on. We have lots of clever tools in here to complete our services so please enquire for further details relating to your project.
We now offer a fully comprehensive service providing sound for TV and Film. This consists of Location ENG sound systems and post production.
The ENG systems are of the highest quality combining the best in the business from 'Sound Devices', 'DPA', and 'Sanken'. We have varying systems from simple 3 channel consoles to complete 5 channel devices with on-board recorders.
Post Production is carried out at our studios with professional software such as Pro Tools and Final Cut Pro with many useful tools like the CEDAR dialogue noise suppressor DNS2000 hardware unit.
These tools combined with our purpose trained engineers, we offer an excellent solution for broadcasters and film makers. In addition we are also sub publishers of Audio Network music library which is one of the best sources of music for TV and film.
